How the Dudhsagar Trip Works
Dudhsagar is inside the Bhagwan Mahaveer sanctuary, and private cars cannot go to the falls themselves. The trip has two parts: we drive you the fifty-five kilometres from Madgao to the jeep booking point at Kulem, and from there a forest department jeep takes you the rough last stretch to the base of the waterfall.
The jeeps work on a first-come basis and the queue builds fast, which is why we leave Madgao early. Your car and driver stay at Kulem for as long as the safari and the falls take - usually three to four hours - and then bring you home, often with a spice farm stop on the way back if there is time. The falls are at their most dramatic from July through to about February.

How far is Dudhsagar from Madgao?
About 55 kilometres to the Kulem jeep point, roughly an hour and a half of driving each way, plus the safari and time at the falls.
Can the taxi go all the way to the waterfall?
No. Private vehicles stop at Kulem and a forest department jeep covers the last stretch. That jeep ticket is bought there and is not part of the taxi fare.
What time should we leave Madgao?
We usually recommend leaving around 6 to 7 am so you are near the front of the jeep queue rather than the back of it.
When is the best season for Dudhsagar?
The falls are fullest from July through October and remain good until about February. Late in the dry season the flow drops noticeably.

Dudhsagar Waterfall Trip by Taxi from Madgao
Dudhsagar is the tallest waterfall in Goa and the one day trip almost every visitor asks about. It sits in the Bhagwan Mahaveer sanctuary on the Karnataka border, about 55 kilometres from Madgao, and it takes a full day because the last stretch cannot be done in a taxi.
How the Dudhsagar day works
- We drive you from Madgao or your hotel to the Kulem (Collem) jeep base
- From Kulem, forest department jeeps run the rough track to the falls - this leg is compulsory and booked at the base
- You spend time at the falls, then the jeep brings you back to Kulem
- Our car is waiting where it dropped you and takes you home
- A spice plantation on the return leg is the usual addition if time allows
Start early - the jeep queue at Kulem grows through the morning and the sanctuary has a daily vehicle limit. A 7 am pickup from Madgao is normal. The falls are at their fullest just after the monsoon, roughly October to January; the sanctuary closes to jeeps during the heaviest rain, and we will tell you if your dates fall in that window rather than let you book blind.
Our fare covers the taxi for the full day. The forest jeep and the sanctuary entry are paid separately at Kulem and are not part of our quote - we will tell you the current amounts so there is no surprise.
